The top ten highest rated teachers will have their pictures and links to their profile displayed on the Teacher James homepage. Ties will go to the teacher who has taught the most e-English lessons.

Just because you may never see the student in person doesn’t mean you should be afraid of never seeing the money. For e-English lessons the students pay Teacher James and the money is redirected to you on a biweekly basis. Teacher James does charge a servicing fee for serving the e-English interface. The fee is 20% or your hourly rate per hour so remember to take this into account when setting your rates.

There are two ways you can receive your payments. The easiest way is by setting up a PayPal account. You can do this by logging on to PayPal and following the directions there. Setting up a PayPal account is absolutely free. Once you have done this, Teacher James will make biweekly deposits into your PayPal account. If you can’t or choose not to open a PayPal account your other option is to receive a paper check. Checks will be mailed biweekly, but when you receive your check depends on your postal service. Teachers who choose paper checks will also be charged an additional US$2 fee for processing on top of postal fees.

To set or adjust your payment method click on “Billing History” in the Welcome Box of your teacher profile. At the bottom right of the screen you can either select "PayPal" or "Insured postal service." If you select PayPal you will asked to verify your PayPal information. If you select “Insured postal service” you will asked to verify your mailing address. Please make sure this address is correct, as this will be the address where your checks are mailed .

Each e-English lesson is verified by both teacher and student which not only assures that you get paid but also saves you from any possible future disputes.

             Teacher James does all that for you too. Just follow the link on your teacher profile page to “View Billing History” All your e-English billing info is at your finger tips.

Nope. Teacher James will remember the time zone you are in and adjust your teachers’ availability schedules to correspond with your student’s time zone. If you are in Boston, and your student is in Taipei, you may input that you are available at 8AM, but when your student in Taipei reads your profile he will read 9PM due to the time difference. This automatic time zone feature helps teacher and students avoid any confusion due to differing time zones. Remember to change your time zone setting on your profile to avoid missing lessons if you’re traveling or are in a different time zone.

Think about all the times you’re just sitting around the house not earning any money. During those times, Teacher James allows you to login and make yourself available to any student who needs immediate translation help, or is just looking for an English lesson right then and there. Students can see the number of “Ready to Teach!” teachers on the main page and then peruse their profiles. If they select yours, then Teacher James will handle the billing and help you turn that wasted time into money.

Teaching private students is easy and you won’t have any school administrators telling you when you have to teach a class. You make your own schedule.

If you only accept students who want e-English lessons then really you never have to leave your bed to go to work. However, if you open yourself up to students who prefer in person learning it’s a good idea to discuss a class location before you decide to teach them. Also, before any lessons are taught, come to a firm agreement on the hours and the payment (both how much and in what form).

Use Teacher James to teach 1 hour a week or 100 hours a week, again; you make your own schedule.

For those with a Professor Profile, Teacher James will translate your profile into Chinese up to three times. All you have to do is copy and paste your Teacher bio into an email and send it to biotranslations@teacherjames.com Upon receiving it Teacher James will translate it and then send the translated copy back to your email address. All you’ll need to do then is copy and paste the translation into the field labeled, “Copy and Paste your Translated Bio Here” on the “Edit my Profile” screen on your profile’s homepage. You can expect to receive your translated bio within 48 hours of sending us the text.

Scheduling an e-English lesson on Teacher James is easy and since both student and teacher confirm the lesson details before the lesson begins, there is rarely any confusion.

To schedule a lesson, first login to your teacher profile and in the “Welcome” box click on “Scheduling Module.”

From this screen you can select one or more students by checking the box to the left of the students’ screen name. Once the student(s) have been selected hit the “Go to Schedule Page” button at the bottom of the page. On this screen you type in the details of the lesson. Once this is done, press “Schedule.” The next page is a confirmation page telling you that a message has been sent to your student so that they can confirm the lesson details. After the student has confirmed them a message will be sent to your inbox.

You can enter the e-English interface as early as thirty minutes before a lesson’s scheduled start time. You do this by clicking the “Enter an e-English classroom” link in the “Welcome” box of your teacher profile. You will be asked to again confirm the details and upon accepting them you will be directed into a classroom.

The student will enter the classroom through a link on the student profile. Students are allowed to enter the classroom no earlier than five minutes before the scheduled start time. . When the student enters the classroom, the lesson can begin.

At the very beginning of the lesson, press the “Record” button and name the lesson. After the lesson is over an email is automatically sent to the student to rate the lesson and the teacher.

Each week Teacher James opens up “The Study Hall" with several e-English Classrooms with broad topics like "At the Restaurant," "Clothing" or "The Airport." These community classes are taught by Teacher James Featured Teachers and focus on the vocabulary words and sentence patterns concerning the topic. For advanced students, classes covering topics like "Poetry," "Resume Writing" or "Business English" could be offered.

Only those with Professor profiles are eligible to become Teacher James Featured Teachers and teach in The Study Hall. Because study hall classes are taught to groups of students it’s an excellent way for teachers to increase their earnings.

e-English sessions can be run on a wide range of bandwidths, depending on the features that are used in the session. Audio-only sessions are supported by connections as low as 30 kbps (a typical modem connection is 56 kbps), but low-range DSL connection is sufficient to participate in a video conference.
